Step 1 Selecting the Test

At Duolingo, we believe that language learning should be accessible to everyone, and our mission is to make education free and fun. Our language proficiency tests are designed to accurately assess your language skills in a convenient and efficient manner.

  1. Log in to your Duolingo account using your email address and password.
  2. On the main dashboard, click on the “Tests” tab to explore the available language proficiency tests.
  3. Browse through the list of languages and select the one you wish to take a test in.

Step 2 Test Details, Requirements & Structure

  1. Review the test details, including the estimated duration and specific language skills that will be assessed.
  2. Ensure that you meet the technical requirements, such as having a stable internet connection and a compatible web browser.
  3. If applicable, check if any additional resources or materials are allowed during the test.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the test structure, which may include sections like reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  5. Understand the scoring system and how points are awarded for each task or question.
  6. Take note of any time limits or restrictions for each section.

Step 3 Test Preparation

  1. Explore the Duolingo website or mobile app to access free language learning resources and practice materials.
  2. Use the Duolingo platform to strengthen your language skills and build confidence before taking the test.
  3. Review grammar rules, vocabulary, and pronunciation specific to the language you’ll be tested on.

Step 4 Taking the test

  1. Access the test through the Duolingo website by clicking on the designated test button or link.
  2. Follow the instructions provided on each test page carefully.
  3. Complete the tasks or questions within the given time frame.
  4. Save your progress regularly to ensure that your responses are recorded.

Step 5 Submission & Results

  1. Once you have completed all the sections of the test, review your answers and make any necessary corrections.
  2. Submit your test for evaluation by clicking on the designated submission button.
  3. Wait for the test results to be processed and displayed on your Duolingo account.
  4. Receive a detailed score report indicating your proficiency level in different language skills.
